CBA EXPERIENCE 
    CBA has performed work for a number of electric utilities including the following: 
       
  • CBA has conducted "Heat Exchanger Performance Analysis" and "Nuclear Plant Thermodynamics for System and Design Engineers" 4-day short courses on numerous occasions including an in-house course for EPRI and at TVA and at the Millstone and Seabrook Nuclear Stations and regular solicited courses in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. 
  • CBA performed an assessment of the cooling towers and auxiliary Cooling Systems at the Watts Bar Nuclear Plant to determine the feasibility of completing Unit 2.
  • CBA assisted EPRI and Exelon in performing a self-assessment of the LaSalle Nuclear Plant's Generic Letter 89-13 heat exchanger testing program.
  • CBA performed an assessment of the existing cooling towers at the Bellefonte Nuclear Plant to determine the feasibility of Utilizing them in conjunction with a proposed Westinghoue AP1000 nuclear plant that is proposed for that site by NuStart.
  • CBA performed an assessment of the Containment Air Cooler and Component Cooling System heat exchanger testing program at the Callaway Nuclear Station and provided a technical basis for the operability of the CACs.
  • CBA performed a preliminary design and detailed cost estimate for an Oriented Spray Cooling System to reduce the discharge temperature from the Gerald Gentleman Power Station.
  • CBA performed preliminary designs and detailed cost estimates for alternatives for increasing the heat rejection capacity of the cooling lake for the Comanche Peak Nuclear Plant.
  • CBA conducted tests and proposing alternative designs and provided preliminary cost estimates for increasing the heat rejection capacity of the cooling lake for the Hines Energy Complex.
  • CBA proposed alternative beneficial uses for the thermal discharge from the PPL Brunner Island Power Plant.
  • CBA performed a self-assessment of the Cooper Nuclear Plant heat exchanger testing program.
  • CBA proposed alternative design modifications for the Susquehanna Nuclear Plant ultimate heat sink spray pond.
  • CBA designed an Oriented Spray Cooling System as the ultimate heat sink for a proposed advanced boiling water nuclear plant.
  • CBA developed PEPSE models for the Salem and Hope Creek Nuclear Plants and is supporting a power uprate study for the Hope Creek Nuclear Plant.
  • CBA conducted an assessment of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Generic Letter 89-13 program at the Cooper Nuclear Plant.
  • CBA conducted an assessment of the Service Water system at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Plant to identify latent issues that should be addressed prior to restart.
  • CBA authored EPRI Technicla Report No. 1007248, Alternative to Thermal Performance Testing and/or Tube-side Inspections of Air-to-Water Heat Exchangers.
  • CBA conducted a study to evaluate the ability of balance-of-plant equipment to support a power uprate at the Sequoyah and Watts Bar Nuclear Plants.
  • CBA developed a thermal performance improvement program for Ontario Power Generation's Pickering, Darlington, and Bruce Nuclear Stations.
  • CBA developed cooling tower performance software for Pacific Gas & Electric.
  • CBA conducted a feedwater heater performance study for the Dayton Power & Light Co. J. M. Stuart Station.  
  • CBA participated in a megawatt resolution project at the Sequoyah Nuclear Station to identify the source of missing megawatts from one of the two units. 
  • CBA prepared heat exchanger testing specifications and procedures and assisted in testing heat exchangers at the Waterford 3 Nuclear Station. 
  • CBA supported a Service Water System Operational Performance Inspection at the Hope Creek Nuclear Station. 
  • CBA supported a vertical slice review of the Auxiliary Building and Containment Building HVAC systems at the Salem Nuclear Station.
